About the Sooes River

The Sooes River is in one of Washington's coastal river basins, near Neah Bay.

Winter steelhead are the main catch here. Anglers reported an average of about 30 harvested winter steelhead a year from 2004 to 2018. Most of that catch comes in November. Coho average about 16 a year and peak in October. Chinook average about 3 a year and peak in September. Smaller numbers of summer steelhead and pink salmon are also reported. These figures count harvested fish only, not fish caught and released. Washington catch figures follow the WDFW report year, which runs from April to March.
