About the Okanogan River

The Okanogan River is in Washington, near Tonasket. It flows into the Columbia River (Wells Dam to Chief Joseph Dam).

Summer steelhead are the main catch here. Anglers reported an average of about 640 harvested summer steelhead a year from 2004 to 2022. The best months are February and March, and the catch peaks in March. Sockeye average about 50 a year and peak in August. Smaller numbers of Chinook and coho are also reported. These figures count harvested fish only, not fish caught and released. Washington catch figures follow the WDFW report year, which runs from April to March.
